You know what I mean. Those tracks that just hit you, and then you instantly know this album will be great. Also, make sure to post a youtube video or something.

Song: Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach (Feat. Snoop Dogg)
Artist: Gorillaz
Album: Plastic Beach

I know it's not technically the first track...
I can honestly say I have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

I don't always post on UG, but when I do, I post in the Pit. Stay thirsty my friends.

Also, please STOP writing "/thread" like a bunch of douchebags when said thread is obviously going to be about personal musical taste.

Pink Floyd - Speak to me/Breathe

this. opening track(s) to the best album ever
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

This Is Shangrila - Mother Love Bone.
Their only album ever, Apple...
And Andrew Wood himself didn't live to see it.
Your dreams are all out of focus;
Knock you up when you're feeling down.
And all the world feels so unreal...

I agree with The Leper Affinity. Blackwater Park, followed by Fortress by Protest the Hero, are my cycling/workout music.

Another song that hit me, was Paul Reveres Midnight Ride, from Four Year Strongs album, Enemy of the World. Absolutely loved that album, screw what people say about Rise or Die Trying, EotW is the best they've come up with.

Best actual opening track for me would be the way Iron and Wine opened his live album "Norfolk" with Sunset Soon Forgotten, one of my favoute songs ever.

In the Presence of Enemies Pt. 1 by Dream Theater (from Systematic Chaos)...even though it and the end track are technically one song.

A Nightmare to Remember by Dream Theater (BC&SL), sets the tone perfectly.

Since We've Been Wrong by The Mars Volta (Octahedron)

Just some of my favorites, not really the "greatest" openers ever..not even from my list if I were to really look...just some that come to mind.

I think Son et Lumiere is a better opening track to a better album personally.
