What is, in your opinion, the best album title of all time?
And the worst?

My 'best' may go to the Smashing Pumpkins for "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness"...

And my 'worst' probably goes to the Butthole Surfers for "Hairway To Steven".

+1 for the Smashing Pumpkins, good choice.

Also, Cannabis Corpse's "Mummified in Bong Water" could both stand as the best and the worst album title ever.

any album thats self-titled is pretty lame in its own laziness

I think on the top of the self-titled list would be. Bad Company's Bad Company with hit song, Bad Company.

self titled albums are the worst, especially with bands that have more than one *Led Zeppelin*

Death Magnetic, I can't think of any stupider titles right now.

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth 3 and Lost In The Sound Of Separation have always rung well.. And since this about titles and not the music, for some reason I always like the title 'Someday Came Suddenly.' /flame

I love titles that are one word, like Horizons, Damnation, Leviathan, Colors etc.

Self titled albums are pretty lame.

You know, I was crazy about the title "In Rainbows" when that one came out, but it's since grown on me.

I'd have to say the best album title I've heard to date is XTC's "Drums and Wires". The worst (not really, but I don't like them much) I've heard so far is either The Specials's second album "More Specials" or Crystal Castles's second eponymous album, "Crystal Castles." But then, I might be falling back on the self-titled-banality thing.

Best: 65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyway or Porcupine Tree - We Lost The Skyline.
Worst: Self-titled albums, Joe Satriani's The Beautiful Guitar, other pretentious stuff.

just wondering, what is it about self-titled albums that everyone hates?

i understand that it's perceived as laziness, but why? i'd hate it more if they came up with some stupid forced-sounding title for an album that didn't really need one.

Best:I like Time Will Fuse Its Worth by Kylesa a lot. Zoroaster's Voice Of Saturn is also a cool one. Oh and Hate Ashbury by Bongripper, stupid focking hippies.

Worst: Nothing that hasn't already been said comes to mind. And I don't find self titled albums to be lazy or bad especially if the band has a good name.
