No.

My dog is my best friend in the whole ****ing world. There is no way I see him as something I own.
#4
I think of them as friends but every so often I like to remind them that I do, in fact, own their ass.
#5
IMO the concept of thinking of your pet as something that you own is like treating it as an object. And you just buy and trade objects, you don't value them the same way you do a creature who can respond to your emotions. So i choose pet=companion.

I don't have a pet. I want a cat, and I could get one, but I'll be living away from home this time next year and I won't be able to take care of it so it would be unfair to leave it to my parents, who don't want one.

If I had a pet though, it would be a companion... I wouldn't get one if I saw it as 'something I own'.

well, a woman is a piece of property, so i'd have to say a dog is a companion/friend.

Since we paid for my cat from a shelter, technically she's something I own, though I don't treat her like an object.

At times... I ignore her mostly

My pets are my friends. I love my turtle, and my dog. When I move I plan on getting a a cat, and a parrotlet. My future housemates have a dog, 2 cats and axolotl. We all love our animals and treat them as if they were people, not an object.

I have a lizard and he sits on his fat arse all day, it'd be like being friends with a brick if it were the latter.

So neither, I think of him as an awesome little animal who happens to live in my house.

My snake is more of a novelty item as he has no personality and just sits around all day.
My dogs on the other hand, are more friends than property.

companions but sometimes you just gotta show them whos boss
i love my cats but sometimes you have to spray them with a water bottle when they go into your porn stash

Depends, a dog is a friend. A fish is an item.
My cat on the other hand is more of a house guest than anything.

A pet dog is an animal that is tamed to your liking and you most likely paid or came to be for whatver reasons for its companionship.

I think it defeats the purpose of having a pet to treat them like property, eh? Plus, it's just inhumane.

I love my dog, my bird, and my kitten (and all other animals I've previously had)!
He's a freak of nature, but we love him so.

Dogs are the shit. They don't judge you, they stick by you and help you through tough times. You never have to worry about a dog stabbing you in the back. They're pretty much incapable of judgment, which is one of the reasons I like them so much.
