How do you learn/practice doing this? Any help/tips?
Thanks.

The easiest thing to do is to just play the guitar part over and over, singing the song in your head, and then try and ease into the vocals! It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

To examine the tone of the sphincter? What the hell is it, a tuning fork?

Make sure you know the guitar part 100% and can play it without having to think about it, and try to achieve the same with the words. That way it's easier to stick the two together Some songs are easier to sing and play than others, as the rhythms of the two parts are fairly similar. Counter-rhythms need to be slowed down and practised usually. The more you do it, the better you'll get at it!

Perfect the guitar on its own.
Perfect the singing on its own.
Perfect the guitar while humming.
Perfect the singing while making the chord shapes only.
Perfect the singing and guitar at the same time slowly.
Gradually increase the tempo until you can do it full speed.

Alternative method:
Practise.
You're = You are
Your = Belongs to you

There = Not here
Their = Belongs to them
They're = They are
Thx.

I know it sounds silly but try doing it slow (vocals as well) and learn to sync them, then normal speed.

Singing and playing guitar is much like playing with two hands on a piano... you're not splitting your brain in half, just merely learning when to hit a note with the left hand, when to hit one with the right hand, and when to hit notes with both hands at once.
