Why is the Peavey 6505 112 combo so much cheaper than the 212 version?

The 112 is £449
The 212 is £1099

Is the 112 a completely different amp? Is it made in the far east? Why the radical price difference?

I have to say, this confuses me too. Although, isnt the 112 the Peavey 6505+ combo, and the 212 just the 6505?

What makes it even more confusing is that the 6505+ is supposed to be the better one of the two, if i'm not mistaken. I cant make sense of it at all...

112 made in China, not that that makes it any worse really. The china 112 is 60w.
Same tubes etc, but 2 less power tubes than the original 6505+ head that is 120w.

Yeah, but is the design of the amp anything like the 212 combo or the head?

Or is it something completely new and different, and they just used the same name?

It's a slightly modified version of the 6505+ head. It uses one less preamp tube and obviously only has 2 power tubes. It's still got all the functions and features of the 6505+ head. I haven' had the pleasure of A/B testing them so I don't know the tonal differences but it isn't huge from what I can tell.
