Hey guys,

I just purchased a Line6 UX1 package and have been using Pod Farm 2 as well as the Guitar Rig 4 demo.

I noticed there are some free VSTs out there -- that simulate a TS, amps, etc. Do I just put these in the VST folder of each application and they will appear as a selection within each program?

Thanks so much -- I have read some FAQs and what not, but its still a bit confusing to me!

Well, you have to put the VSTs in the plugins folder of your recording application.
Personally, i use REAPER.

But AFAIK, you can't use external VSTs with Guitar Rig, for example. Just with recording applications.

So they're not for real time use? Just recording?

I use them for real time use when i want to. I just have to open up the signal on a track armed for recording, and i get real-time, live sound without recording.

And i heard something about the Shred Suite (freeware) by AcmeBarGig being a stand-alone app, but since i haven't tried it yet, i can't confirm it.
So you can try that.
