hey forum !

i wanna have an electric guitar.
I dont want to have a very expensive electric to begin with.

so do you guys got any suggestions? or advice ? that would be very helpful !
under 500 please^^

thank you !

I recommend starting with a Fender Squire or a Gibson Ephiphone, both those brands usually sell for less then 200, and their very reliable, quality guitars.
#3
^ i agree, there are very nice beginner guitars.

please DO NOT buy some shitty guitar from wal-mart or something like that, just some advice for the long run

Check out LTD's by ESP. The cheap ones are amazing beginner guitars, and will last you a while.

epiphones are not that good quality today (made in china stuff), they where very solid in past but not now... if ur living in the USA and uve got 500$ go check PRS SE... PRS SE Tremonti is very good guitar and in USA it costs like 500$+-, u can check other PRS SE's, they are much better quality... ive played many epiphones, low end fenders etcetc, everyting is made in china, indonesia, india or i dont know what else.. PRS SE are made in korea, quality control is very good... its rare if i find some fret buzz at this guitar (never found dead note or so)...

1) What currency?
2) What music do you want to play?
3) Do we need to fit an amp and necessary accesories into your budget?

Thank you. Smartest person in this thread.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

You are clueless and do not know what you are talking about.
Bhaok

The following statement is true. The proceeding statement is false.

i would love to play rock and some country
so im not playing death metal and stuff xD if you can get a good amp and guitar for less than 500dollars^^ but if you have to go up to 6-700dollars its okay^^

I'd go for a Vintage or Squier Classic Vibe, Vintage guitars really good guitars and will last you a lot longer than cheapo starter pack guitars, I know people who have been playing for years and still play Vintage guitars they got for under £200 (roughly $250 I think)

EDIT: I'd get that along with a Vox Valvetronix, they're great amps and have a wide range of tones, and plenty of cleans for country music

Go with the Vypyr 75, or even 30. The Sanpera II is a great add-on too.

Get a used Fender Stratocaster.

You're welcome.

apart from epiphone and squier, you could get either a vintage, ibanez, washburn, jackson - that kind of stuff.
Gear:

Squier Tele Custom ii (p90 version)

Orange Crush 10

Fender CD140S

This is a good amp that will work well for your styles. I assume with 'rock' you mean something like Skynyrd, the Eagles, maybe Zep, etc.?

The aforementioned Vox VT series of amps would also work for you. A VT30 is nice. Also look into the Vibro Champ XD, which is a lower-powered version of the Super Champ XD and perfectly suffiecient for home use.

Most of the guitars you linked to weren't that great, and not really suitable for country. Someone mentioned the Squier Classic Vibe series and they're really great value for money. I think the Super Champ with one of these will give you the tones you are looking for:

Please in the future don't use the word "Fender Squire" and "Gibson Epiphone". Just say Squire or Epiphone. I'm tired of seeing people on craigslist wasting my time, but posting Fender Stratocaster, then when I get in it says Fender Squire Stratocaster. I know the name is owned by fender, but that doesn't mean Fender or Gibson directly make the guitars.
Gibson Les Paul Traditional - 11
Fender Stratocaster MIM - 04
Fender Mustang - 04
Taylor 214ce - 10

The Vintage guitars are very good value and the Vox VT30 should serve you well. The other guitar I'd look at is a Yamaha Pacifica 112V, which is probably the best cheap guitar I've ever played and I plan to get one myself.
Gibson Les Paul Studio with Catswhiskers pickups
PRS SE 'Floyd' Custom 24 with Creamery pickups
Fender Standard Stratocaster with DiMarzio pickups

I have dealt with them before but not for guitars. It seems to be a bit cheaper here and they are very good indeed:

http://www.dv247.com/guitars/vintage-vs6-electric-guitar-cherry-red--35386

An SG style guitar isn't the most obvious choice for the music you play, though it's a perfectly good guitar at that price. An alternative that is even cheaper from Vintage would be this:

http://www.dv247.com/guitars/vintage-v6-electric-guitar-boulevard-black--64569

Remember however, you get what you pay for and you don't have to go much more expensive with Vintage to get a better guitar as the have a hell of a lot of choice at that end of the market. I'd also seriously look at the Yamaha Pacifica 112V as it's not that much more money but, in my opinion at least, is a better guitar than the Vintage and I have played both. With the Pacifica, just make sure it's the 112V and NOT the 012.

You can get a used MIM Strat or Tele for about $300.00 and a used Super Champ XD for around $200.00.

If it's your first gear then I would buy used. Check Craigslist or even your local guitar shops used area. Be patient and check Craigslist ads in your surrounding area also. Patience will pay off in the end.

If you rush into it then you will find out quickly that the gear you "settled" for wasn't worth the rush.

I am looking for a new gigging electric. I have a stagg i300, which is an ibanez copy, I think. Kinda strat style, but smaller, and more hardcore. I like it, but I am looking for a better sound in a rugged package that looks good enough to gig with. (my stagg has a cracked neck, and the knob posts came out of the pots when they were taken off for resoldering. i have no vol knob now, but it still amps fine for practice.) I also want a different body style. I like flat black electrics. not strat/tele/lp/sg style. I like punk rock/metal looks in a guitar, and I like a full range of sound, from hard, humbucking rock/metal to sublime/ska to old cajun/country/blues to jazz to mozart and beethoven. What can I pick up for under $750 (guitar alone) that will have kick ass looks, humbuckers and single coils, preferably a tremolo bridge, and a tough body/finish with well made hardware.

I play through a behringer m108(i think) v-tone 15w (phail) and a Peavey envoy 110
-Your shadow of doubt.

Those guitars there are great too, but I'd still get the Vox whatever guitar you get, they're just way more versatile, and are just generally great, I've got one of the first ones that came out and they're only getting better these days
