When you're beginning a sweep like this:

D||19-15----------15----|
A||-------17---17---------|
F||----------16------------|
C||-------------------------|
G||-------------------------|
D||-------------------------|

Do you pull off and then pick the D fretted on the 15 (i.e. beginning the sweep on the 15), or do you pick the 19th on the D and then pull off while continuing your sweep (beginning the sweep on the 19th).

I have no issue with this when starting the sweep with a down-stroke, but when you begin by coming back up I never know quite what to do.

Apologies if this is a little convoluted.

Pull off and play the B string, the Idea of the pull-off with sweeping is so you dont have to do the anoyying alternation at the top

up pick - pull off
Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I've ever known.

I suggest you pick down - pull off - sweep up. That way if you do want to scrap the pull off and pick every note... it's the exact same motion with the picking hand.

Also, guitar is a transposing instrument, so you name the strings EADGBE, even if you're tuned to D standard.

You have to pull off of the 19 while you sweep down to the B string. so you are just picking the strings one at a time you DO NOT alternate pick any time on a sweep

Or what i was taught to do was to play something like this
e--12h15p12---------------------------------------------12h15p12-
B---------------13-------------------------------------13---------------
G--------------------14---------------------------14--------------------
D------------------------14-------------------14------------------------
A----------------------------15p12--12h15----------------------------
E--------------------------------------------
Whatever works for you i guess you could just pull off from 15 to 12 without hitting the 12 or do a hammer-on pull-off part.
