A lot of "modern" guitar records.

They digitalise and compress the sound to such an extent that it doesn't actually sound like a guitar anymore, more like a computer doing an impression of a guitar.

The intro line in "Get Busy Livin" by Airbourne. It's prob my favorite airborne song, but I think the intro guitar tone sounds like it was played on guitar pros overdrive sound. I hate it, to the point that I edited out the whole intro.

As much as I love this band and cover, when BTBAM covered Geek USA...I just hated the tone. It's growing on me, but still. Bah.

Pantera, early AC/DC, and a lot of hardcore bands have pretty bad tone. generally had pretty bad guitar tone.

I absolutely hated the drum tone of the rev (flameshield)

Also, i dont like tones that sound too thin for the kind of music that's being played (a lot of Iron maiden (flameshield again))

You hate Dime's tone?
I didn't know that was possible..

Black Veil Brides are stuck in 2006- but in an alternate dimension which is trapped in mediocrity and repulsiveness.

Bring me the horizon's tone is annoying.

And sometimes the tone on Nattens by Ulver hurts. It's funny, this was being discussed in the metal forum not too long ago.

Anything from Death Magnetic, and Synster's tone is bleeding awful.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

But you do love Dolittle's tone right? The fills in gouge away, oh god...

KSE's first 2 albums. I cannot stand the tone.

On the flipside, As Daylight Dies has one of the best rhythm tones I've ever heard. EOH's was pretty good.

Their new self-titled tone, apparently recorded with a VH4, is atrocious also. I don't know how they coaxed such a shitty tone out of a Diezel. Maybe I'm just not a fan of the voicing.

Also, I love Petrucci, but I'm not too fond of the rhythm tone on Awake. Too scooped for my taste, a bit thin also.. which I find ironic because it's the only album to be quad-tracked.

edit:
Re-read thread title. I guess my post don't really go.
Worst tone ever heard on a song...... hmmm..... There are too many. Mainly from youtube covers.

Yeah his tone on Doolittle is great, infact it is on all the other albums, including Come On Pilgrim. Somethings just gone wrong for him on Surfer Rose haha.

Every single song on THe World Needs a Hero by Megadeth, I also REALLY hate the drumming on it. If the album was produced better I would actually like it

U2, what else?

When in doubt,
Don't know what life's about,
And you're just having a bad day,
Drown everything in delay.
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.
