I want to replace the original speaker in the Marshall DSL401 with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. The original speaker is 12" and 16 ohms, so I want to get the 12" and 16 ohm version Celestion speaker too right? I know it seems obvious but yeah.. I've never wired an amp, nor anything to be honest. But I really want to do this myself.

But actually, it has a switch on the back to select between 8 ohm and 16 ohm impedance, so would it actually matter whether I got the 8 ohm or 16 ohm version of the Celestion as long as I set the switch to the correct position?
I don't know how much you know about speaker wiring, but when I started i used this site for help...

Tons of information there, but if you are just replacing one than it isn't very hard. I would also recommend look a Warehouse Speakers Veteran 30's, the Vintage 30's clones. I have them in my 4x12 and love them.
