ok so im trying out/borrowing an old marshall vs265 before i decide whether i buy it or not. the only complaint is rather harsh fizzy distortion. it hard the insides all resoldered a few years ago and the tube replaced. im just wondering if this harsh fizzy distortion is something common of these style of amps with it being hybrid and what can be done to combat it?
You can combat it by not buying it.

Theres nothing you can really do to change the voicing of an amp. Especially a hybrid/solid state.

The valvestates just arent one of marshalls good amps.
Yes, that amp sounds fizzy and harsh with moderate to high gain-levels. It can be EQ'd out to some extent, but then it sounds muffled and won't cut through a band mix anymore.

It's just not that great of an amp.
