most mastodon songs are d-standard, the rest are d-standard with the low string down to C or A.
#13
Think Machine Gun by Jimi Hendrix might be D standard... can't remember though, and it'd be impossible to learn anyway

Yesterday by the Beatles? That would probably be the most famous. Dogs by Pink Floyd. Neil Young has a few songs in it, too.

There's quite a few metal bands that tune regularly to D standard but I don't know how popular they are. Children of Bodom is a good example as stated.

If by popular you mean pop then According To You by Orianthi.

Also check out "Who Knows" by Hendrix. Tuned to Eb but as Hendrix' main priorities weren't in the tuning it appears to have slipped down yet another half tone into D standard.
#35
The Gaslight Anthem plays certainly atleast some songs in D standard. 59 sound is.

Because most people either don't read, or think that D standard = Drop D.
