Well, you can't use the fine tuner for that so you need to unlock the locks on the neck. Although, I do not think that you would need to adjust the springs when going from D standard to drop C.

Ok, but will the other strings go out of tune when tuning the 6th string?

And also, with floyd roses, if you change tuning loads it'll alter the action a stupid amount so you may have to open the back up and tighten or loosen the springs depending on what you're doing!

Long story short: don't buy a locking tremolo if you like messing with tunings.
