So now I'm looking into an acoustic. I just want this really to mess around and not really a high end, or good one. Fretless would be nice, just to experiment with (never actuall played a fretless.) My budget is around $300-$400.

Thanks,
Sam

My recommendation is to look at the Kala U bass. They fit right in your budget, come in fretless and are great to mess about with. They are extremely portable and plugged in sound loud and thumpy like a much larger bass.

Well the U bass seems a little ridiculous, I was just thinking of a traditional acoustic.

If the fretless have loss of volume, then I would be more interested in a fretted because I'm not gonna be plugging in at all, so an electric acoustic seems to be a waste of money. Any 300-400 dollar acoustics, fretted without electronics?

Well I hope you don't intend to contend with an acoustic guitar or anything volume-wise. Unplugged ABG's are rather quiet, with a few exceptions, but those are expensive and/or hard to find.

If you're really set on an ABG, I'd suggest you take a look at Michael Kelly, possibly look used. Or try and find a used Olympia in your price range.

Set up and playing technique will have more affect on volume than whether or not there are frets on the board.
Don't sweat the electronics issue. Pretty much all ABG's have piezos in the saddle.
Get yourself to GC and try the lower end Dean; jumbo size body, fretless, cheap electronics.

Okay I just didn't want to spend money for electronics when I won't use them a lot. But I found this

anyone know if its any good. I'm pretty sure I could find it used in my price range.

I've heard of one instance where the inlay came loose and caused buzzing. Personally, it's too ornate for my taste.
There are several MK owners in the ABG club over at TB. They're quite happy with them as I recall.
