I have never heard of Kay basses.

You have feet in your shoes,
You can steer yourself,
any direction you choose,
You're on your own,
And you know what you know,
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go."

My schools old upright that i used to dabble on was a 1946 Kay bass...didn't know they did electrics though. Probably a different company

If it's the Kay I'm thinking of, that thing must be old. Kay faded into history back in 1968, although apparently some Japanese businessmen acquired the name (along with a few other brand names) and went on to market low quality import guitars and amps using the name.
