Since yesterday, every time I've pulled down on my trem the G string has gone horribly out of tune by about a semitone.

What could be causing this?

Are your strings new?

It's the G-string it always goes out of tune!

On a serious note you should consider changing your strings it's most likely that they are too old. Or maybe they are too new :p

Nope, you're right: they're a few months old now.

Should listen to people when they say "change strings regularly".

Few as in 5 or 10? 2-3 months year old strings are good still, then it wouldn't be those.

I'd say they're coming up for 3 months now, so they could do with a change anyway. Might not be the problem though, I'll retune and tighten the bridge in a sec (something which I should have tried already).

Check and see of the nut is slipping. With the nut locked, pluck the G string and press on it behind the nut. If it changes pitch than it's slipping and that's what's causing it to go out of tune.

Out on parole, any more instances of plum text and I get put back in...

Nope, it's definitely not the nut. Seems like it's started to happen to the B and high E now, which troubles me more.
