"Ominosity stands to carry a tradition of the old darkness. No clicky triggers, no monotonous breakdowns, no musical masturbation. Only the filthiest, crushing, and most ominous riffs we could conjure and bring together, to create memorable and heavy music that will hopefully move you in a way that the greats of past generations moved us."

I could have written up my own description, but I figure the shit they have on their myspace is perfect.

As far as the status of the ep goes

"Yo man can you get the vocals on the last song done sometime this week?"
"uhh maybe i dunno man,i'll let you know"
2 days later
"****......."

But we are really ****ing close to being complete. And should have tapes and maybe cd's before Noctis.

I'm going to be seeing them at Noctis as well. It's pretty awesome that they're playing with Rotten Sound and Incantation.

This is awesome. And I would totally go if I wasn't 3 provinces over. Also, keep up the good music riff. Always loved this kind of death metal over other "modern sounding" bands.

Are there any recordings out yet..or will that ep be the first?

well we made 25 demo cd's with that version of "The Frozen Throne" mainly for the sake of handing out at MDF this year. Chris Reifert from Autopsy,Uchino from Coffins and John from Incantation all grabbed one so that was sweet. The EP will be the first official release.I think that all the time and effort we put into this will really pay off,it's sounding really good even before the post production.

Strangle,i don't see the review on MA,did they reject it or something ? Thanks a bunch though.

They probably did reject it. They like their reviews done a certain way. If you asked in the thread over on MA, they would do one. They'd need more than one song to go off of though.
#14
phhh one song releases get reviewed all the time, look at the Wormphlegm demo, and our one song is longer then some PV EP's

This is a good idea. If you come to ontario, both you guys should come down to windsor.

My guitarist? I think.

What's the metal scene there like or even the hardcore scene? I'm really interested in both.

we have like two hardcore bands (including the one I'm in):

http://www.myspace.com/valeriepageband
http://www.myspace.com/growingpainswhat

and then a bunch of metalcore bands (half of them being christian metalcore):

http://www.myspace.com/assassinatethefollowing
http://www.myspace.com/faithfuluntodeathmusic
http://www.myspace.com/cyreene
http://www.myspace.com/immanuelwindsor

and one deathcore band. We don't really have a legit metal scene at all...

Ominosity, like Vaseleth, Father Befouled, Cruciamentum and Grave Miasma all seem to be going for a Incantation worship. I do like the darker take on death metal that these bands are doing, whilst completely skipping the brutal side of it, as we have come to know brutal.
#36
Finally managed to give it a listen on myspace. Riffmast- I can bear growls/grunts only when the music is really good and have to say your stuff was quite impressive.
I would definitely like to hear more of it.
#37
Pretty good sound...more or less the style of death metal I like. i.e. straight up, grizzly vocals, kinda raw. keep it up!

Yeah the whole Dark Death Metal movement is a big influence to my writing, that along with Doom Metal like Sleep or Electric Wizard and OSDM like Autopsy and Nihilist among lots of stuff. Unfortunately many bands have replaced brutality with just going as fast, technical, and "big" sounding as possible, but all the dynamics and power are being lost to sterilization and a need to impress people rather then evoke some kind of emotion. This is why metalheads are turning their back on the modern now mainstream style of Death metal(a style that i still have many albums that i love from 5+ years ago).

I did forget to mention Innumerable Forms and Disma. Regardless, the vast majority of death metal has been vapid and plastic for a long time. The rockstar attitude prevails and the genre devolves. This dark revival is a long time coming. Despite being nothing "new" it is "refreshing" and a return to form.
#40
Disma is one of my faves at the moment and IF are also wonderful.Well i think some of the revival bands have something different to their sound, it's not a huge progression. But many of these bands are adding their own signatures to the genre and opening lots of doors for progression.Though i have noticed quite a few clones.I'm hoping this revival will just make new grounds for bands to have a different starting place to make something that's new but also if of the same quality as the old bands.Maybe adding in more elements of bestial black metal or crust will help.I'm not sure.Ilsa is one band that is pushing boundaries while being of extremely high quality.
