Kinda long post, just read the last paragraph if you dont want to read the whole thing.

OK I knew this guy since we were little kids. Basically he's completely straight edge, that's fine, but other that that he doesn't do anything at all except play Xbox, school (he's finishing up Uni) and work part-time as a life guard.

I thought he would eventually grow out of that stage, I was once like that myself but it all changed when I moved out and went into Uni and worked across the country during the last few summer. Even his younger sister has done more in her life than he has and his dad is getting pretty pissed cuz he never leaves the house lol He also has a lot of money saved (living at home\not spending= big savings) up so he's parents suggested him to move out for a bit but he still didnt want to

The other week I returned home after working up North all spring\summer and I had tons of stories to tell and shit. Him on the other hand had nothing to say since he did nothing all summer but play xbox and work part-time since he doesn't have any real friends. But I try to hang out with him but he's so boring and doesn't want to do anything normal 20 something year old would do It's been like this for a while now (we're both 22).

But what really got to me was when he said something along the lines like this " I don't think I will ever get a girlfriend or wife, I'll probably just get a dog..." how sad is that? lol How can I change him! I don't want my buddy being a 40 year old virgin!

Dogs rule, girlfriends are overrated. Some people don't find solace in shallow relationships. If he is happy with what he's doing, that's fine. You don't need to make him live up to society's expectations for the average male.

This thread reads like this:I am so much better than my friend.I think my friend is abit of a loser and should be more like me.

Let your friend do what he wants.

I have a friend who is quite the same way. Except he found a girlfriend along the way.

There's nothing you can do about it man.

Have sex with your friend.

lol

If he's happy then why change him?

If he's not then talk to him and try to show him the wonders of the outside world!

Firstly, blast his X-box. Tell to him it's stupid to play x-box all the damn day, and if we wants chicks he MUST go and get em, I understand he's boring, but show him some porn (lol), and hang with him a lil bit, so you don't get really bored, get him into music or sports.

Hey, dogs are great! If you lock your girlfriend and your dog in the trunk of your car for an hour, which one is going to be excited to see you when you open it back up? Your dog, that's who.

Sneak into his room while he is asleep with some rope. Stealthily, tie his arms and legs to the corners of the bed with him on his back. Proceed to blow him.

I was watching the 40 year old virgin earlier today. No lie.

On topic: Just leave him be.

That last line is totally harsh to himself.

If he really thinks that, I feel sad for him honestly.

Firstly he has to stop thinking that way, I mean seriously.

Normal = the shitty concept of there being a regularity in people.

that ends my partially relevant post. (leave your friend be)

Just ask him to chill with some of your other friends and hang out somewhere. If he genuinely doesn't want to just let him be

Sneak up on him while he's playing xbox and inject a big, healthy shot of heroin into him. Repeat until he's addicted, then cut him off. He will have to go outside and deal with drug dealers for the first time to get more, and I'm sure it will result in him having some stories to tell you.

Low Self-Esteem it seems.
He needs to think better of himself.

But that is his choice, and his life to live.

do this. invite him to go somewhere with people.
#37
If he's happy, just leave him alone.

But really, why would he get his own place if he's content being at home? It'd just be a waste of money to go out on your own when you're perfectly fine living at home with the parents, but helping pay for stuff like the bills.

That being said, it'd probably be awesome if you invited him to hang out with you and tried to share some interests. He may be happy, but everyone needs a friend.
