Guys, when I plug in my microphone into the headphone jack it detects my mic as headphones! I got a special cable just for this! Why isnt my mic being detected?

Any info or advice is extremely appreciated, thanks.

well... the headphone jack might be your problem...

i'm guessing its one of those new macbooks that doesn't have a mic jack. you'll have to get a USB interface.

It isn't working because its a HEADPHONE jack. There is a big difference between headphones and a mic. They do two opposite things.

If you don't have a mic input try the line-in, if you don't have that get an interface.

Are you serial? Or just a troll? I do wonder sometimes.

If I hadn't filled it up already I'd be tempted to sig this.

Step 1. Sell the Macbook
Step 2. Buy a car with money
Step 3. Buy a decent PC
Step 4. Buy an audio interface
Step 5. Plug in your Mic and enjoy the remaining money

PS: You may need a 1/4" Jack adaptor for the mic. They're only cheap.

^love that.

But yeh you could just get some kind of adapter and plug it into the USB slot of the Mac? Sure it won't be the best quality depending on the sound card the Mac has, but it'll work.
