Hello,

I have a question about notation in a piece of classical music.

I am currently learning the piece Spanish Romance or Romanza. Part of the piece has a BVII... over it, and another part has a BV... over it. Does this signify that the notes belong to a chord or a mode?

This notation looks similar to when we see 1... and 2... notated over some of the measures to denote if the notes should be played in the first repetition or the second repetition of the piece.

Thanks in advance.

It means to barre at that fret, just to speed you along with the fingering.
Don't tell me what can not be done

Don't tell me what can be done, either.

I love you all no matter what.
