right now I have a yamaha eg 112c I am looking at a squirer strat which is the better guitar ?

Erm...well, it's a Squier model. Those are essentially Fender's crap Strats. But Yamaha guitars aren't that great either. I'd look at an actual Fender Strat myself. Not a Squier, an actual real Strat.

don't listen to the guy above. A name on a headstock doesn;t make a guitar good or bad.

Squiers are definiatly better then yamaha's in my opinion, and my strat even beats low end fenders quality wise.

go try out some squiers and see which fits you best.

good luck!

try and find a used made in japan squier, they were discontinued because they wer too close in quality to the made in america fenders, so that'd be something like 200 GBP for a guitar thats better than one worth about 900-1000 GBP

m8, are you serious?

Squier Classic vibe and vintage modified, go for it.

I'd much rather get a classic vibe 50's strat than a MIM standard strat, just because the headstoch says fender.

And if I had that money, I'd get a godin, but whatever.

Don't go from bad guitar to bad guitar. Get a higher end squier, it's not that big of a price difference.

This. 80's Japanese squiers are great.

Squier strats aren't that bad, especially the Standard or the classic vibe series.
That being said, I think that the Eg112c's are more " beginners material " than the good squiers

Yamaha guitars are pretty good value for money. I sized up a Pacifica Vs Squier Strat for my daughter's first guitar, and IMO the Yami wins hands down.
My stuff:
Gibson Les Paul Special w/- humbuckers
Gibson Flying V
Ibanez RG550 1992
Epiphone Wildkat
LTD EC50
Marshall AVT150H
Marshall 1960A reissue
Fender Pro185

squire boyz, if he's got the 112c , and he's looking at $200 usd guitars.

that does not include 50's, vibe squiers.

TS if you have $200 to spend, on a second guitar, i wouldnt get a second guitar so similar in quality to one you already have.

much more important, is what amp you're using.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

i'll 2nd that.. my only guitar now is yamaha ERG121, a beginner guitar, had it all along bought it to gig, done recording with it. Its skill that matter.

Soon i'm getting ibanez S7420 ~_~

I dont get all the Yamaha bashing. I own a yamaha pacifica 112 J and can honestly say its a solid line for beginners to intermediates, switch out the pups and it make a reasonable back up guitar.

They are really good value and pretty decent, and definately better than similar priced squiers. A high end squier maybe worth it, but going from a pacifica to a high squier isn't much different, seriously consider other brands, maybe an ibanez or scheter.

TS, don't horizontally upgrade. The Squire isn't a good enough guitar to justify it.

If you haven't bought a guitar yet look for a yamaha pacifica old higher end models like the 921 or the 1221 or the 812, and 912 those guitars freaking rock, warmouth neck floyd licensed tremolo the only thing is that parts are hard to aquire but an ibanez bar fits their trems.
