I downloaded the ten day demo off the site and made this video with it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqMfwRI0f7k

Its the best metal amp sim I've used (I'm running a Mac system so I haven't used lepou/acmebargig vsts yet). On thomann it costs 144 euro which is cheaper than I remember, think it cost 200+ last year. Very expensive for such a small application when you get amp heads just as good for free. The cab system is incredible though since you can position the mics on a virtual screen. I don't think it sold very much and they have stopped updating it.

Nice, sounds really good. Yeah, I can see why they didn't sell to many of em, too expensive for an amp sim, no matter how good it is.

Little preview of something I've been working on. This the monitor mix we had going and I just bounced that so drums are a little in front and obviously not final mix but a good picture of where we're going.

Guitars are Schecter Omen 6 into ART Tube MP for some dirt (hey if it sounds good, it's good!) and then into Profire2626. Amp sim is TSE X30 with a bit of EQ (SSL channel strip). Impulses are Awesometime loaded into kefIr.

hey guys, i'm new to the whole VST amp/cab thing, but give my clip a listen,

http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/Gundamnitpete/music/play916393

It's one of catharsis(sp?)'s cab's, and the lextac amp. only double tracked. lemme know what you guys would change, etc.etc.etc.

The tone or sound sounds a bit scratchy and rough. However, if mixed with a band, it could come off different and compliment the other instruments.

Sound awesome. I'd just throw a noise gate on your tracks to get rid of that fuzz.
Let's party.

thanks guys!!

i forgot to EQ it, lol, so a high and low pass should help get rid of som eof that noise, and a noisegate will be my next investment. thanks for the tips.

Wow, this thread is a gold mine. Any good cab sims that I should take a good look at? I know most of these are just heads.

Poulin LeCab is a nice one that I use a lot, Catharsis Studio's (Ryan) impulses are about the best I know of free on the web, load those suckers in there and your pretty much guaranteed a decent tone.

Personally, I think Sperimental has the best impulses, but he stopped after a paid-for IR was an almost duplicate of his.

Also, you should add the LeCto (unless you have, I didn't see it)
Here's the ROS DI's with it, I blended a Sperimental IR and GuitarHacks IR together with LeCab.

I'm too much of a convenience-***** and too little of a tone-***** to move away from my pod x3/farm (that gotta count as a VST). At least until I can afford an Axe-Fx

Clip:

I ought to at least use some good impulses instead of the pod cabs, hmm

I'll be uploading some clips with the Simul Analog Guitar Suite VST soon. I think it sounds pretty good.

EDIT: I'll also try to get some with the LeCto from Poulin. I strongly recommend you get it, it's a Dual Rectifier model.

To all you guys asking about the LeCTO, I just found out about it a few weeks ago, and I downloaded it and have just now gotten to playing around with it. I'm in love with this thing I have got to say. It's the cleanest lowest noise VST Amp I've used so far.

I just did a bunch of clips of the Vintage channel and the Modern channel as well as a ROS version of it. Will get all that uploaded to UG tomorrow, because it's 1 am here right now

I just uploaded this the other day. One of my first times recording / mxing something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5o8vaNEgxM

Sounds pretty good for a first time. Very impressive. Try adding some mids to the guitars, they sound slightly hollow.

What exactly are you using in this clip, what amp?

My signal chain was something like this:

Guitar L + R 1:
BTE TSS > TSE X30 > Kefir with Catharsis impulses > ReaGate.

Guitar L + R 2:
BTE TSS > Nick Crowe 7170 > Kefir with Catharsis impulses > ReaGate.

Lead Guitar was the same chain as the first guitar but with Kjaerhus Audio's Classic Delay and some different EQ'ing.

All Guitars had Kjaerhus Audios' Classic EQ and all tracks had Matthew Lindsay NCL EQ.

Just wondering, were the settings displayed in the video the same as what you used for the song?

No, I just used random images I found off the internet.

(May or may not belong here, thought it better than making an entire thread out of it.)

I originally made a straight video with text demo that was shorter than this on the basic use of the some free software out there for guitar sounds. It got some good comments and everything but the video was ass, just re-did with proper audio and voice narration after a few people asked me to.

Looking back on it I skipped a few things in trying to make this as short as possible, I was trying to aim for a 7-8 minute video but that failed.

But either way, It's the bare basics to get started, so this might be helpful to some who is newer into this stuff.

Anyone had a chance to try the new TSE X50 beta? I haven't used it full out in the context of a mix but it sounds incredible, definitely my favorite amp sim right now
#75
Yeah, I've been giving it a wirl, seems a bit glichy still. The Kt-88's are way louder than the rest, and cause some issues when switching. I think I just need a proper interface to make it sound better, cause I still prefer the X-30 over the X-50, even thought the X-50 is friken cool and has alot of nice features.
