Don't worry! I'm not looking to start a fanboy fight.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that directly compared all of AMD's processors to Intel's processors according to price and performance. Essentially its equivalent (or as close to equivalent as you can get).

Hoping to build a PC on the cheap, so if you know of any sites like this, would be great!

Thanks!

On the cheap? Go with AMD then. But Intel is top stuff.

Can't think of any sites, but this I agree with.

The i7 is like having a small nuclear arsenal in your computer. The i5 and the i3 are amazing still!!!!

its all about benchmarks, not names.

although currently for higher end, intels i7 series is the best.

If you got money, go Intel. On a tight budget? Go AMD.

Personally I've used AMD all the time, but that's because I can't shell out money to get a good Intel

I use the highest AMD available.. Well.. That was available a few months ago when I bought it. Does a good job, couldn't possibly compare the two. Just look at the marked speeds and I'm sure it'll perform at that.

wrong.

marked speeds are a gimmick for people buying chips that dont understand how knew computer chips work.

seriously benchmarks are far far far more important then speeds.
ever wonder why a 2.2ghz quadcore i7 outperforms are core2quad 2.2ghz by miles?

i7 are quads, powerful and best of all, reasonably priced......sounds awesome to me atleast.

Not to hijack a thread, but is quad 2,93 GHz enough for a gaming rig?

you can get i7 duals, mainly for laptops

an i7 2.93 ghz? yeah that will be very powerful for gaming, but its all relative to the game you are going to be playing and how powerful the rest of your rig is

In the current market all you need to know

CPU - Intel
GPU - AMD

Done!

If you have a big budget, yeah, if you're a bit tighter for cash then the newest Nvidia GPU is severely good value for money and the AMD chips pack quite a bang for your buck.

When I was putting together my last computer before my current I used a 'mid range' Nvidia that crapped itself and died whenever it was pushed. Replaced it with a 'mid range' AMD for a similar price and it kicks the crap outta the Nvidia I had, less heat, less power usage and more graphical capability.

Beside, this should be in the computer thread really so continue the discussion there.
