Theres a job going at some cafe thing, 9 to 5 every Sunday, and I would get £150 - £200 a month for it. Is this good?

How much money did you guys get when you were 16 at a job?:P
#2
I didn't, I was busy being at college and otherwise having fun

Minimum wage, 20 hours a week. That was a few years ago so the minimum wage has changed a fair bit. I'm 22 now.
#4
essentially you'd be making 6.25/hour... dont' know what minumum wage is where you live but here its at least $8 USD

Well £6.25 an hour works out to just over $9.50 US.

If TS is still at school he isn't entitled to minimum wage, even if he's left school it's £3.57 for 16/17 year olds.

I'm in britain, over here we call education from 16-18 "college" and degree level studies "university".

£200 a month is decent for a 16 year old, I never had a job when I was 16, too busy to spare any time for it.
#14
That's decent money TS. The job I had at 16 got me £300 a month, and that was working those hours on Sunday, plus the same hours on Saturday, at £5.07 an hour.

I can't get a job anywhere, the few places that will employ under 18 are taken. And that's pretty much just two bakeries.

None, a 16 year old should not have a job, they should study at school so they can have a better job in the future. I mean that is the time in your life, where you shouldn't be enslaved by a job yet, parents should be the providers for an underage person...

by the way, I just turned 17 today, so this is now the opinion of an ex-16 year old

I make $8.80 (Canadian) an hour and I'm 14. I work a fair bit. Hell two weeks ago I worked 35 hours. You have a pretty good wage and hours if you are going to school at the same time as working.

****, that's more than minimum wage for a 21+ year old.

Take it if you know what's good for you.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting paid £200 a month, I'm currently getting £20 (EMA) cause I am at college. If you haven't already take the job because im having a difficult time trying to find a weekend job and I have been looking for about 6 months now and I've heard nothing back.

I work a lot more than i like to work and i get about 800 bucks (Canadian, about 500 pounds) a month making about a quarter more than minimum wage. During the school year I'll probably make closer to 600 (£368.65)a month. Expect to hate your first job.

If you're 16, any money is good. You're most likely living with your parents who are most likely providing for you. £100-200 to spent on travel and luxuries sounds pretty damn awesome to me.

In retrospect, I wish I had saved some of the money I had when I was 16-18 and working. Would of got a lot.

I barely worked hard at school when I was 16 and got good GCSE results, almost getting excellent results, whilst pinning down eight hours a week very, very easily.

Admittedly although you will working the rest of your life someday, working just Sundays will have barely any effect on your studies, and at that age you REALLY appreciate the money.

I got 200 quid a month working at 17. It's all good, even though weekends should be for fun though TS, I had one day working and one day off.
