The preconception that you NEED to learn acoustic first is wrong. I started on bass and now I can play electric
Learning acoustic may help with finger strength and placement, but from most cases I've seen, it's just a cheap way out for parents when a kid says "I want an electric guitar". And it's a really bad way to go, if you want to learn metal and not blues and so on.

Best to start on bass and learn the specialist techniques like slapping and popping etc. i wish i could play bass well... as a guitarist i bought a bass for studio purposes but it was harder to play well than i thought it would be, dont make that same mistake!

Who said you had to learn to play acoustic first?

I got cheat codes to get you past the flute recorder stage but you might have to beat the acoustic guitar stage on your own...

There is really no need, unless your friend has incredibly weak finger muscles and can't push down on the strings. It may help if he wants to play chord stuff on the higher strings, but that's still something that he can pick up while playing bass

Only play what you hear. If you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything.

I'm pissed about those Recorder codes... I mean, I went straight to bass, with no string instrument experience... Worked out great for me.

Why on earth would you need to play accoustic before learning bass??????
Seriously, I've been playing bass for 4 months now and when i tried to play my sisters accoustic guitar before I learned the bass I hated it. They are two completely different things, I'm still a beginner but I like playing the bass and can't really ever see myself picking up a guitar and seriously learning it.

If someone wants to play bass, they should start ON a bass, there is no reason to even consider starting on a accoustic guitar...

but then again i did cheat codes for the accoustic... :P
