Hey,

wondering if anyone can tell me what scale is predominately used in the opening riff to Avenged Sevenfold's "Unholy Confessions"

Here's a tab and a video link, i'd like to know how to write similar stuff and i'm a bit of a noob so i'm looking to find a scale and work around it to help me learn.

D|-0-0---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-0-0--5---7---8---10---8---7h8p7--------------10-0-8-0-7~---------7-0-8-0-----------|
D|-0-0----0---0---0----0---0-----------10~--8-8-------------------7-7---------------10~--|

Also to add something, occasionally it changes to D harmonic minor throughout the song. I actually learned this song when I started out
"Could everyone please stop sounding like everyone else that's trying to sound like meshuggah?"

Learn how to play scale shapes, this should answer further questions of this nature.
