Hey guys, so recently I purchased a new laptop and the other day I finally connected my Firewire 410 up to it.

Right off the bat, everything worked fine. Then I started getting crackling and popping noises when I would play music. So that's problem #1.

And now my sound will sometimes stop working entirely for no reason known to me. I have to restart the computer to get it working again. It should also be noted that when I try to turn off my computer, it won't shut down normally, I either have to close the laptop while it's shutting down and wait for it or just take out the battery. And then when I restart the computer it gives me a message that windows was not shut down properly, etc, which is unpleasant. I know that these problems may have nothing to do with my audio interface, but the fact that they started right when I got it up and running is pretty fishy to me.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. The firewire cable is also being run through an adapter... if that's of any significance.

If you need any other info just let me know. Any help whatsoever is appreciated. Peace.

What do you mean by Adapter?

A similar thing was happening to my computer. Did you do a virus scan lately?
That could be the problem. Was with my computer. Ran a virus scan, there were 2 or 3 viruses, now it works good. I have my computer set to scan everyday around 5:00.

Well I just started college so when I got here I needed to download resnet, which basically gives you virus protection and makes sure you're not torrenting, downloading tons of porn, etc. So I scanned a couple weeks ago.

By adapter I mean that the firewire port on my laptop is different from the cable that runs from my interface so I needed to use an adapter.
