Hey guys. I'm new to this forum. I know there are some threads about this, but I didn't find them very conclusive. Do any of you guys have experience with this product or it's pickups? Thanks.
P.S. Here's the link to it at musicians friend. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/B.C.-Rich-Special-X-Mockingbird-Electric-Guitar?sku=584453
Specs are included in link.
Thanks,
Mitch

I've owned a black one for a while and it is a lot better than many people on these forums claim that it is. The Rockfield pickups are good - not especially hot, but they have a nice all-around tone. The neck and fretboard are the big sellers on this guitar; they make playing very easy. The only problem I ever had with the guitar was that once it required a minor truss rod adjustment. 1/4 turn with an allen wrench and the problem was solved.

It isn't as good as a Custom Shop B.C. Rich, but then again it isn't meant to be. If you like it, then by all means go for it. Be advised that it doesn't come with a case and you might need to look around to find one that fits it well. The Mockingbird is a weird shape.

For $100.00 more, you might want to take a look at this one:

This one looks pretty good, too.

I've found that it's really only the budget-bin B.C. Richs are terrible. The even moderately higher end ones, when I've had the chance to try them out, seem to be, at the very least, competitive within their price range, and certainly the model you're looking at is much better looking than many of its competitors. If there's a Guitar Center or some other B.C. Rich dealer near you, go find one and try it out. I personally hated the Warlock I tried out a while back, but my friend owns two of them and swears by them.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not interested in the mockingbird st because of the floyd rose. Do you think the neck is too fat?

How's the neck? How does it compare to a Schecter?
