So the time has come to get a new amp. I've looked through threads but I want my own =]

Budget: £400 Preferably less

Loudness: Bedroom, Rehersal, Small gig's.

Style of music: I play a lot of everything, but it's generally rock, pop punk, metal, etc.

Band example's :30stm Lostprophets FOB Blink 182

any help would be awesome.

Unfortunately, that budget won't get you very far with them.

30STM use Uberschalls, LP use Orange Thunderverbs, and B182 use Triple Rectifiers.

For under $400 (I know not the right currency sign, but W/E), the best thing I can recommend is getting a used ValveKing 112, (~$200) then modding the speakers and tubes with the leftover money.

Those bands use really high gain amps, which I find strange because none of them really come across as high gain sounding. All of them have different voicings (British, American, German I think), so no one amp will get you a really good sound for all of them.

You can try for a used Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 as well, that might be a good choice, though they're kind of hard to find used here.

Found a valveking 112 for £382, how does it compare to a line 6 spider?

It doesn't. Spiders are some of the worst amps you can get.

Also, keep fishing. That's still way too much for a VK, imo. That seems like the new price almost, actually. Are you looking for a used 112?

I don't know, I'd probably take a Spider over an MG if I had to have one of the two. Tough call though.

Also, don't bash an entire company because of one product. Vettas and HD's kick ass.

250 is a pretty good price. You can find them lower, but if you can't find any, that's acceptable, imo.

You'll find whisky very different, but try it and you'll grow into it, soon you and whisky are one, but still two, lovers dancing across a frozen lake under moonlight, wrapped in honey and warmth.
