I've had my Spider Valve for about 2 years now
So i switched on my amp, and yeah something is wrong.
the knob is set to a point, where the house should be shattering, but the amp gives away a very quiet signal. When the knob is at my practicing position, it makes practically no sound at all.
What the hell is going on? The sound quality is a bit worse as usual too. but It was working fine just yesterday.
Are the tubes getting old? or what?

please help
thanks

I'd get some Rubys or JJ 6L6.

ask for a matched set or matched quad.

contact:
dougstubes.com
tubedepot.com
thetubestore.com
eurotubes.com (not in europe)
hotroxuk.com (in europe)

Also, I wouldn't get preamp tubes unless you really need them but it never hurts to have extra either.

Go for JJ's.

Edit: If you have the money, like $50, get a full re-tube. Chances are the stock tubes in there are are cheap and have needed changed for a while

Hey chief, go to tubedepot.com.

Yes, you do need preamp tubes. Okay you might not need them, but it has been two years and stock tubes are usually iffy. Like I said you can probably get a full retube for about $50.

a pair costs like 40$ allready

My apologies, I was comparing that to my recent tube endeavors. You are probably looking at like $70-$80. Which still isn't bad for something you need and will be very happy once you do.

JJ's get good reviews, I'm a personal fan of them but, I have heard good things about Electro Harmonix as well.

ikes why would you do that?

if you are in the UK then go to hotroxuk.com like I said.

Mesa and Fender and Engl are rebranded. TAD, Sovtek and GT are your best bet then in that order. Me thinks.

if it's the 40 watt'r pop a matched pair of 6L6s in there and see what shakes, it's probably them.

i wouldn't sweat the preamp tubes if you are on a budget right now. maybe buy one 12ax7 in case one goes out.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.
