i'm using a Marshall AVT100X Valvestate amp and i get this strange buzzing sound when the strings are motionless.

Heres a crap phone recording of it (sounds higher on recording than in reality) to provide a better explanation of it, should open in Quicktime Player: http://rapidshare.com/files/418304260/Voice0003.amr

Any help is appreciated!

It's most likely your guitar. Have you played your guitar through a different amp to check if it's the guitar?

i just tried it on my MG10, it makes the exact same noise.

Also it stops when i touch one of the metal parts on the Guitar (Floyd Rose Saddle, Jack Output, etc)

i've just tried my new Schecter Omen Extreme FR and my new Epiphone Les Paul Standard through both amps and i've gotten exactly the same outcome, buzz buzz buzz.

Ok. It's probably a grounding problem in your guitar.

Head over to gear building and customization and more people will help you.

Your going to want to do this.

It may be a grounding problem. I'm not sure. Go to GB&C

Check if there are any electronics around your practice place. Radio, monitors, tv, whatever.

But the same thing has happened for all my guitars/amps (including 2 fairly new guitars).

Just tried in the corridor where there are literally no electronics, same outcome :/.

i'm using fairly cheap cables. Would this be the only cause in this situation?

Edit: Just tried better cables, same outcome, FML.

If your having this problem it is a grounding problem within the electronics of your guitar or your guitar cable. If your buzz goes down when you touch the strings, tuner, trem literally any metal part that should have a connection to ground then you have a grounding problem. Could be a loose or broken wire. Strats have a connection for the strings in the lower trem spring cavity. Gibson guitars have a wire that runs to one of the bridge posts. Other guitars should have something similar.
