I have a knock-off P-Bass and I wanna personalize the thing...should I put stickers on it? Or is that sacreligous? If I did, they'd be cool stickers like skate brands (DC,Vans, etc.) and band logos. So yeahh...should I?

its a knockoff so go for it
No ego-inflating quotes nor stupidly long signatures to be found here.

Move along.

If you want to then go for it, stickers aren't hard to get off if you change your mind.

LIES...

that damn residue is impossible to get off, especially if you use bumper sticker type stuff

Eugh. The 3rd one was the only half-decent looking one in my opinion. If you're really going to do it, make sure you cake it in them, don't just stick one on and then call it a day, that just looks tacky in my opinion.

Ultimately it's your choice. I wouldn't do it to any half-decent bass but if it's a cheap knock-off and you want to do it, you really have nothing to lose.

WD-40 takes off the residue really good

Hrmm...Hot Topic and Zumiez are where I'm probably gonna go to get them...any other stores that sell these stickers?

Don't put skate brand stickers on it, you'll look like an asshole. Just put your favorite bands stickers on it.

It's your bass, do what you want. however, i do not feel skate brands qualify as 'cool'. :P

My sticker:

My sticker is bad ass, though I'm not sure about your stickers.
Lord Gold feeds from your orifices and he wants to see you sweat.
Lord Gold probes you publicly and makes your pussy wet.
Now say his name.....

Most people over do it with stickers and it looks like crap. Just because you have a stick does not mean it has to go on your instrument.

Yeah...alright. My only concern is if I put em on,and they look crooked,no way of changin it back =/

I put insulating tape on mine. It looked good, but I need to re-do it because some of it is peeling off. Blue and White on a Black Yamaha BB 404.

Post a link? I'd like to see how that looks! I accually know a guy who put black tape on his bass and it looked pretty cool.
Personally,I'd put bright,neon tape on mine ^_^

Mike Watt of fIREHOSE and the Minutemen disagrees...

Putting stickers on your instrument is not "personalizing" it at all; everybody and their brother covers their shit in stickers.

It was cool when Alvin Lee did it back in the '60s, but now you can't go anywhere without seeing a guitar or bass covered in stickers.

Good point...what are meaningful stickers? Like bands youre passionate about?

I find it hard to take anyone seriously who has their crap covered in stickers.

Or who have guitars that "r sh4ped for teh met4lz"

a band that you love maybe. If you really want to personalize it take a sharpie and write some quotes that really speak to you. I personally wouldn't do either, but thats just me. also keep in mind that covering an instrument in stickers lowers its value.

I put stickers on mine to cover things up. There was a crack in my pickguard so I put a sticker over it. I took the thumb rest off and now there's two holes in the body that I need to cover up. Why not with a sticker?

Cause it just looks even uglier.

Can you imagine if every little crack/blemish on earth was covered up with a big fat sticker? Does that make it look better?

If it's a blemish you don't want to pay to have get fixed, why not?
The only thing I wouldn't fix is road ware.
Stickers are a nice way of expressing things, I don't know anybody who says "Bumper stickers make car look ugly."

Would you put bumper stickers on a Lamborghini or Porsche?

Two cars don't classify as all cars.
I don't care for any of the new cars, I think they look ugly as sin, so I probably would put a bumper sticker on one.

You could put stickers on any car you want, but it'd still look ugly.

I think that stickers look good on Fender style basses, but that's it. So yeah I'd say go for it. I think it can look good and if it's just a cheap copy why not, you can always take them off.
