So, I got a new 5150. And I'm wondering how I should set the Ohms switch. I know it's supposed to match the cab. I've got the 5150 cabinet that goes with it.

I believe the cab is 16 ohms. But the guy I got it from was playing it at 8 ohms. Everything is seemingly fine at 8 ohms. But should I up it to 16? Or keep it at 8? The guy must have had a reason for it being there.

if the cab is 16 ohm, set the switch to 16 ohm. if the cab is 8 ohm, set the switch to 8 ohm.

really, if you dont match the resistance, you'll fry your amp, not breaking the tubes only, but also the amp itself.
