Bought this baby (LTD EC-1000QM STG) used on Kijiji a few weeks ago and finally took some pictures after I got it all cleaned and set up at a local music store. Because I live in an apartment now I haven't been able to crank my Peavey 5150 combo or turn it up past 1 so I haven't gotten the best test of the sound. From what I have played of it though it sounds GREAT! This is my first guitar with EMG's and I was actually quite impressed. The sound is almost exactly what i'm looking for, the EMG's (81/60) seem to be quite evenly EQ'ed and the best part is that the high's are not shrill like the 498T bridge pickup on my Gibson LP Menace (love that guitar but HATE those pickups-- they feed back like no one's business and distort my clean channel on my 5150, not to mention that the distortion is just too harsh).

As far as the quality of the guitar when I bought it, it seemed to be in fairly good condition. It was a lil dirty and slightly grimy on the fretboard and there was some fretwear (discoloration on some of the upper frets). The battery also needed to be changed BADLY because it sounded like doo doo when I was testing it out, but we changed the battery and it sounded perfect.

I was actually saving up to buy an LTD EC-1000 (silver burst-- about $900 Cdn.) but I stumbled across this guitar on Kijiji for $750 and I talked the guy down to $650+ hard case. I figure if I had saved up for the silverburst and bought a case ($80-100) and then paid tax it would have been $1130 Cdn. and I paid $650 flat so in reality I got the same guitar (different colour with some other small differences) for about half the price :-)

I couldn't be happier with this guitar and a number of my favourite guitarists use ESP/LTD's and I feel like I truly found the sound I wanted. The other plus about this guitar is the weight, it's quite thin and not too heavy so it doesn't hurt my neck/back while on stage. The neck is an interesting change and I am really liking the Thin U neck contour, it reminds me a little bit of some of the Ibanez's i've played (not as thin or flat, but close).

nice pictures... shame none of them work
Belief is a beautiful armour but makes for the heaviest sword.

Nice finish. Really though? I always found the Thin U necks to be quite thick compared to Ibanez.

Still comfortable as hell though.

The Thin U is still thicker than Ibanez yes, I was just saying that the 'flat back' of the neck reminded me of Ibanez wizard necks not that they were necessarily equal

$650 Cdn. which is even better

Yeah I don't mind the abalone on guitars, I find it makes the guitar pop from long distances but can be a little gaudy close-up. Although with the green finish I find it even looks pretty good close-up :-)
