Just picked up my first tube amp today,$500 off craigslist, and I finally shut it off to get on the Internet and share it with the GGA crowd, enjoy!

In the truck when I got her home:

My very own tubes:

My blues rig:

I really see why everyone is so stoked up about tube amps now. I love this one! My sustain is now awesome, I thought it was the guitar or my technique no worries now.

The clean channel with a touch of reverb makes for a really cool blues solo tone. The drive channel provides you with just a touch of grit for a great classic rock sound. The extra drive channel is...I really don't know how to describe it...its not the tight modern rock type distortion, but, I don't know....loose I guess, a little muddier than I'd want for any kind of lead playing, but you can crunch out some power chords and have a little fun with it. It's my blues rig anyhow so I don't see myself using the extra drive channel very often. Overall I really like this amp, I think the addition of a quality distortion pedal would make this a very well rounded rig.

HNAD! Like the clean channel on those a lot (for clean or pushed sounds), but yeah I'm not a huge fan of the gain channel. Nothing a pedal can't fix though!

if you crank it on one side of lake superior, they will hear awesome tones on the other side. fact.

I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

HNAD!!! I love my deville, the more drive tone is good for really dirty funk solo's like Eddie Hazel. Still getting a tube screamer or something like that will help.

sounds like a mexican model then. the mexi models don't have the volume taper volume knob (evidently that is one of the upgrades in the new model hot rods). it annoyed the hell outta me that mine topped out around 3 (on a 12 point scale!). btw, the american ones had their own quirks (like no bias adjustment).

muddy/loose low end with a 4x10? wow. i always had the problem that 10" cabs tighten everything up too much. but those hot rod's distortion channels are not modern really. you may be happy with another distortion device.

Yay welcome to the DeVille family. I am totally satisfied with mine.

Sunglasses needs to be replaced with wayfarers though for a complete blues rig. :P

Sexy!

I'm not surprised you didn't like the extra drive channel.

How to get around it? Crank the clean channel and slap a tubescreamer in front of it

^^ Well 3 for this amp is still pretty loud. I have played at 3 to practice on I just rolled back to volume on the guitar a bit. It doesn't sound the greatest though.
