Title says it all basically! I'd like the lovely inhabitants of the Pit to give me the names of songs they never thought they'd be able to learn when they first started playing (or even now!!!), but that you can play now!

For me, I never thought I'd be able to play Love Thing by Joe Satriani or The Ecstacy of Gold by Ennio Morricone.

Blackrat has won this thread. That is an awsome post.

This was posted right after I posted said post in a completely different thread... Whups.

No way.

You've either been playing for more than a year or it sounds like shit.

When I first attempted learning the intro to Green Tinted Sixties Mind a few years ago I was like "no way am I ever gonna be able to play this." I soon forgot about the song, and a maybe two or so months ago I tried again and got it down in like 15 minutes, and then perfected it within that hour.

I don't like BFMV anymore, though

No mate, i'd suggest you avoid assumptions in the future.

I've nailed Holy wars except 1 or 2 of the Mustaine/Friedman solos.

I've been playing piano and violin for years so naturally i would have the dexterity to jump straight into guitar.

It's really not that bad. The only hard part about it is getting the percussive parts to match up with the melody and bass.

Honestly? Comfortably Numb by Floyd had me shaking in my boots when I was a kid. I actually bought the tab book for The Wall and when I saw it I raised my hands in the air and said, "Fuck this, I'll take up bass or something" but I sat down and learned it in a day or two. That was years ago though, but that's the only time I've been that overwhelmed by learning a certain song or technique.

Agreed with the Comfortably numb solo, same with Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 solo.

I agree, it's been two years and I can sort of play the solo. I'm not great at the bends though.
