Hey guys, the lead guitarist in my band only has a crap 15 watt solid state practice amp, and recently has just been sharing my amp with me (Peavey valveking 100) and that obviously hasn't been working too well.

We're on a tight budget (maybe we could spend anywere around 700-800), and we need a two channel tube amp that's loud enough to not get owned by the drums. And if possible, have a sound similar to Marshall tone heh.

Our band's genre is Pop punk/Alternative.

If you could give me some suggestions, that would be great!

Thanks

Look on ebay and see if you can find a used Peavey JSX combo for that price

technically with that budget you could buy a valveking 2x12 new he likes your amp. peavey jsx combo (used) or even a valveking used would be a good choice.

if he wants a marshall tone try looking for a used tube marshall like a jcm 800/2000 or something.

700-800 is actually quite a bit of money to spend if you're going to buy used.
You can easily find most Marshalls around that price point.

You could also buy a Spider Valve amp and have some built in amp modeling.

There are plenty of used Marshalls in that price range - DSL/TSL, maybe even some JCM 800s/900s.

Might also want to look into a Mesa. The Single Recto can be found used in that price range and will nail the modern pop punk/alt tones.

Plenty of money for a great gigging amp there.

Personally these are the amps I'd be looking at:

Traynor YCV50 Blue:

Bugera 1960
(brand new; leaves you around $250-$300 for a good cab)

JCM900:

Also the Bugera 1990. Its a JCM900 clone.
