I was at the pawn shop today and spotted an Ibanez RG550 for only $100. Thing is, there is a huge crack on the back of the neck, right around the nut. Would it be worth it to buy this guitar and fix it up? Would I be able to just superglue it back up or would it be better to buy a brand new neck? And if so, how much would a new neck cost?

Why not just buy a new neck?

If it's bolt on than get it and just get a new neck

If it's anything else, don't bother

Thanks guys, do any of you have a rough estimate for a new neck?

If, you do not know how to repair it and need a guitar to play do not waste your money on it.

If that's the only problem with it, I'd say go for it. Replacement Wizard necks run anywhere between $100-200 last time I checked. It might even be fixable; I used to have an old Ibanez that had a neck snap like that. It was repaired with a bonding agent and I never had problems with it afterwards.

Okay, I just picked up the guitar but I've got no idea how to go about fixing it. Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what to do or link me to a guide or something?

Here you go;

That crack behind the nut is very common on Wizard necks, luckily its pretty easy to fix.

Thanks man, that sites always got good information.

just buy a neck from warmoth for like $200...

Or.. Fix the neck for ~$10 and use the $190 you save to buy something you actually need!
