I play mostly metal and I'm in need of a new amp, and as far as budget goes, I'd say around $400.
Guitars:
-Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Silverburst (Invader/'59)
-Fender Standard Telecaster HH Black (SH-5/'59)
-Fender Standard Stratocaster HH White (Nazgul/'59)
-Austin Guitars Les Paul Goldtop Copy (Distortion/'59)
-Ovation ApplauseAE44II Elite Black Acoustic

Amps/Cabs
-Peavey 6505+
-Peavey Stereo Chorus 2x12 Combo
-Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 1x8 Acoustic Combo
-Marshall MX2x12 Cabinet

Wayyyyy too many effects pedals...

Well if your planning to have a band soon and have an amp to be loud enough with them, you'll need at least 60 watts solid state, but SS isn't reccomended.

I reccomend you go out and get a Peavey 6505+ 112 used. It'll be about 400 used. It's a tube amp so you'll have to change the tubes once in a while ( less than once a year)

I have a 212 and It's pretty awesome. You'll for sure need a noise supressor if your going to use it at loud volumes though.

EDIT: And since I'm such a nice guy I went and found you one.

Peavey Vypyr tube?

And +1 to the 6505 rec.
Also a used 5150 combo. Pretty much same thing, people say it's better because it's the original, but it's the same amp except cosmetics.

You also could be happy with a Bugera 6262/6260. It's a clone with nicer cleans.
