So I finally saved up a nice chunk of change to buy a new head! I need a head thats good for hardrock/metal, such as Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, but also bands like A Day to Remember, and August burns Red. My Budget is around $1000 US dollars. Right now I have a Peavey VK Cab, which is good enough for right now. Another opetion is to get a loud 2x12 combo. The biggest shows I will be playing is at a local club called the chameleon. So around 1000 people shows. Any help would be great, thanks!

PS; Here are some I'm looking at;
- Blackstar HT100
- Hughes and Kettner Switchblade
Peavey Valveking Head
Peavey VK Cab
Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR
Schecter Damien Elite 7
Ibanez ART2EX1
Boss SD-1 Overdrive
Boss GE-7
Boss NS-2

For that budget I'd recommend buying second hand as you might get top gear for a good price. I won't buy new cause you're never going to get back what you paid (usually).
Check Ebay or any shop that sells used.

Used maybe a Mesa Recto which covers those bases pretty well, otherwise I'll wait and save up some more till I can reach 2K and then buy a keeper (Blackstar Artisan 100).

Marshall JVM410H is a good head for Hard Rock/Metal.

i'm actually debating myself whether to get a 6505+ or JVM410H, the best option is to ring around and see who has one, then go try it.

The Valveking cab is poo, so putting a nice head on that will be a waste. Are you keeping your VK head? Why don't you sell both of those and start over with an increased budget. I like the Blackheart head idea but not sure how well they can do metal. Where you at in PA?

Man, get rid of the VK cab. The speaker swap is a popular mod for those amps for a reason...

Anyway, I'd check out the following (some might be a bit out of your budget):

- Rivera K-Tre
- Baron K88
- Mesa Single/Dual/Triple Rectifier, Mark III, Mark IV
- Randall RM100M with Blackface and Modern modules
- Soldano Hot Rod or Avenger
- Peavey 6505, 5150, XXX, 3120, 6534+, Butcher, Ultra Plus, JSX
