Basically in a nutshell is it worth it?

I bought it to mess about with, the necks lovely on it, but obviously the stock PUPS sound terrible..after a bit of research and from i know i suspect (but hope not) the bodys plywood, but its pretty heavy and seems solid as a rock when tapped (sounds the same as when i tap my ibanez which is a basswood body)

I was looking at the irongear pickups because a) they're inexpensive and b) they sound pretty good

Any advice would be very much appreciated

80's squiers are the best squiers. just as good or better than an MIM fender. dont you dare sand on it. they are worth alot to collectors.
