My first actual NGD, branching out from my Squier Standard Strat. Well to my delight my awesome wife surprised me with a NGD slap in the face today when I got home from work. Short back story, as per usual I was looking through Guitar Center/Musician's Friend/Sweetwater one night and she asked what I was obsessing over now, and I showed her a guitar I was interested in. Couple days later on the way home from dinner, stopped by GC to get some strings and talked her into letting me try out said guitar for about 30 minutes. On the way home made the simple comment of "that'll be the next guitar I buy". Well here we are two weeks later, and I come home to this:

Now I never said anything about the John Lennon version of the casino, but she knows I love basically anything Beatles/Lennon related.

As for the guitar itself, I really love it so far.

Specs:

Body: 5-ply maple/birch
Top: 5-ply maple
Neck: Set, mahogany
Neck profile: Slim taper
Scale: 24=3/4"
Nut Width: 1-11/16"
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Frets: 22 medium-jumbo
Fingerboard radius: 14"
Inlays: Parallelogram
Binding: Single-ply on body and neck
Pickups: 2 Gibson USA Tribute P-90 single-coils (P-90T bridge and P-90R neck)
Controls: Vol/Vol/Tone/Tone with 3-way toggle selector switch
Hardware: Nickel
Bridge: LockTone Tune-O-Matic
Tailpiece: Trapeze
Tuners: Gold Grov

I'm still getting used to the overall feel of the Casino, the archtop design is definitely an adjustment for me since I'm used to a Strat body, but it's still very comfortable to play. The neck is smooth as a baby's ass and shaped perfectly. It is very light weight, has a wonderful tone. It is surprisingly loud when played unplugged. I love the warm versatile sound when plugged in, and it's also great when unplugged for acoustic sound.

I'm still learning what the guitar can do, but I have no doubt I errr... my wife, made a great purchase.
Call me old fashioned but I prefer 'rock music' that has electric guitars.

Which is why you eat funions. All the deliciousness of fried onions without disgusting lukewarm onion snake.

Tell her you love her and you had better plan the most romantic night of her life for this

No seriously, you need to light some candles, but on some Barry White, and make her scream so loud the neighbors call the cops on you.

Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

HNGD, It6 looks killer, I really like the Epi Casino. Epi really puts a lot of work and attention to their semi and hollow body guitars. I am sure you'll love this guitar I play a lot of them when I got on my usual week end hunts for guitars.

Isn't it great when your girl surprises you with a nice guitar! I have gotten several surprises from mine but of course I reciprocate and get her something I know she'll love.
