Hello there, i've been playing bass for about 2 years and my current amp isn't impressing me at all anymore. I'm looking to upgrade my amp and stumbled across one of each of the Hartke XL 410 and the Hartke VX 410 for fair price. I want to know if anyone has experience with these cabinets and also, could you suggest a head around $500 max $600 with a 300 watt minimum. i looked at this http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gallien-Krueger-MB500-500W-Ultra-Light-Bass-Amp-Head?sku=423659 which seems OK but i'd some other opinion. Thanks in advance!

The Hartke VX cabinets are fine bass cabinets. I have a Hartke VX810 cabinet with 8x10 speakers and not only does it sound great and move a huge amount of air, but it doesn't distort the way a lot of much more expensive 8x10 cabinets do. The VX410 should serve you very well.

The GK micro bass amp is pretty cool and the one I played had fantastic tone. For what you are looking at, you should also check out Carvin's BX500:
