Pretty straight-forward. What's the stupidest, least thought-out, all around most retarded idea you've ever seen implemented with guitars/amps/gear?

For me it's clear picks. As if guitar picks didn't get lost often enough now V-Picks have gained the power of god damned invisibility.

Taking a guitar, taking the 2 thinnest strings off, and tuning it down an octave

****ing stupid, never a use for it

Putting a douchebag up there and taking his guitar away cuz he sucks at it so bad and going, "Sing, bitch!" Worst idea ever.

OT: Those wireless guitars and amps you hear about.

Taking a guitar, changing the tuning, replacing the strings with drum heads and the body with drums. Adding a pedal or two and hitting it to a rhythm. BS.

Taking a guitar, replacing the guitar with a stick that's bent on the end, and using it to smack little white balls around a huge field. Stupidest shit ever.

Another one that I find retarded: Having an amp with a Bass and Treble knob, but no Mid. Yes, I know Fender and Vox made super successful mid-knob-less amps, but it's ****ing retarded. I like boosting my damn mids.

And here's another:

Guitars with only a bridge pickup.

They're marketed towards shreddy metalhead types, but you'd think that someone who likes to shred or solo would understand the importance and value of a neck pickup. Guess not.

I sometimes fell like I'm the only one who likes to play leads predominantly with the neck pickup.

You can not get that tone with the bridge pickup.

i literally never use the neck pickup(except occasionally while playing clean), it sounds like shit for metal solos.

They've been around forever though. EVH made them popular in the early 80s.

I kind of like them, they're good if you just want a no-frills old school heavy metal axe.

But nothing beats a single coil neck pickup for blues tone.

Line 6 spider was the worst piece of gear but I'll probably be getting a new amp soon

My bridge pickup's volume is usually cut to 0. I prefer the neck sound.

So much for all of EVH's contributions to guitar history being awesome...

Worst gear idea I've ever had was trying to hook up all the guitars and keyboards in my set to only two amps, using a 6-channel mixer. It seemed like a genius idea at the time, but those amps were so tiny and the mixer seemed to suck all the life out of the tone, even after fiddling with the EQ for hours...
Q: Favourite Pink Floyd song?
A: The one where they get wicked high and play Emin and A for an hour.

Someone said that my idea of tuning all the strings of my guitar so if any 2 parallel strings were fingered, they would do a power chord.
I think it was something like

1.E
2.A
3.E
4.A
5.E
6.A

Not sure if this is a legit tunning or not, but it sounded okay...

A Buckethead sig will cost you about as much as a Les Paul STANDARD, and in my opinion, is much better suited to modern/versatile players. It has an ebony fretboard, and it's a baritone too. Bonus!
