i believe the specs on the epiphone are the same, but dont hold me to this

They're exactly the same except for the colour of the paint and the colour of the hardware. Those are literally the only differences.

this - the quality is the same, the species of the wood is the same - with the epiphone les paul custom you're just paying more for comsetics - fancier binding and more of it, gold coloured hardware which quickly wears down to a dull greyish colour anyway (although i actually like it better when it's worn down), and different inlays. nothing there to make it any better than the standard as far as a working guitar goes.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.
