What the f-ck. This is going too far. You can't censor pictures of a plant. Pictures of heroin are perfectly fine, but something half as harmful and legal must not be seen by our children, which very likely see at least one person smoking every day anyway.

Discuss.

EDIT: Am I gonna be banned for posting porn?

that's pretty ridiculous. that's like saying kids shouldn't watch TV because some show's might have violence on them. personally i don't really care, you will probably make the same choice's no matter what.

Well I for one think this country has gone stark raving mad! Mp's claiming expenses, teenagers getting pregnant, hoodies stabbing and robbing shopkeepers and premarital sex! And now this?! I can say that I am thoroughly outraged at this and will write a formal letter of complaint to my local council!

I say good. Stuff should be illegal anyway. The less children see of it the better. Of course, everybody thinks they are a master of the human mind and "know" it doesn't affect children's choices.

I'm 16 which technically is still a child and I know for a fact that a picture will not influence me.

Nem, I think you're right.
We should also ban McDonalds in case they get fat.
And lard.
Vegetable oil as well, I hear it can be bad for you. Most meats. Just make everything illegal that isn't a green leafy vegetable.
OH! all sharp objects as well.

I think you have missed the point about living a free society. We make our own choices.

Yes, let's make it illegal. That way people turn to crime and endanger children in order to get their tobacco. Let's create some crime to protect the children.

They're just covering themselves in case some idiot decides to sue.

This is exactly it. Cause kids are getting credit cards and debit cards at 16 now, and with that happening they can use it online for a ton of stuff. If parents find out they can sue the site for selling tobacco to minors.

Edit: It's either this, or some idiots have already tried suing. One of the two.

It's basically their "Caution: HOT!" that all fast food restaurants put on everything just cause retards try to sue for everything just to get money.

I'd prefer it if all under 18s just went away. They annoy the hell out of me.

Reminds me of something that happened to me in high school:

My art teacher held a photography contest my sophomore year, and I decided to enter. My entry was a photo of a bottle of Jack Daniel's rigged up to look as if it were pouring into a glass of ice by itself. It was really cool, I had it set up on a wire that didn't show in the photo, had the camera taking shots throughout the pour and chose the best one. When I submitted my photo, not only was I disqualified, but I was also suspended from school for a week for promoting alcohol.

All over a fucking bottle of whiskey.

Saying it should be illegal and saying to make it illegal are not the same thing. It should not have been legal in the first place. I am well aware it is too late now.

They've gone from regular advertising to under-advertising, but now to censoring? This is ridiculous. Should kids be smoking? No, probably not. But should they be allowed to see smoking/tobacco? Absolutely. That in itself causes no harm.

Fine, it may be stupid how they phrase it, but it's a shop website selling exclusively tabacco products, why would they want under 18s on their website?

Why should it have been illegal? People would still acquire it illegally and it would add another cash crop to the illegal drug trade.

Yes but it would be incredibly overpriced and harder to obtain.

Lets say a smoker smokes half a pack a day (6-10 fags)

There is no way that a teenager could afford 6-10 blunts a day.
Now if Marijuana was legal and was mass produced like tabacco, the prices would be more reasonable and having the money for 6-10 blunts a day wouldn't be so unreasonable anymore.

Making things illegal DOES help.

Cuban Cigars eh?

Aren't they pretty much banned from everywhere, at least in the US they are.

If that's your only proof of this then your gona need to reassess your concluding skills.

US residents can't buy cuban cigars regadless of where you are in the world. That's how whipped you are.

What's with the fucking nannying in this country nowadays?

If anything kids will want to smoke more due to this. Its typical psychology. If there is a sign saying "do not push the button" the first thing we think about is pushing the button. Plus kids will think if they smoke they'll be even more badass if its censored. It makes it seem more rebellious, which is just more motivation for them to do it and piss off their parents.

The UK is a cess pit with this and the drinking laws getting tougher. If the country wasn't in such a state, maybe people wouldn't be drinking and smoking so much.
