Hey yo!!!! Been a while since I've gotten a new amp (the JCM900 proved much harder to get rid of then expected, but I did it!!!!). I'm pretty excited about this one! Greg, no teasing, because this is about as 80s as it gets

after months and months and months of trying to get rid of the JCM900 I FINALLY got some stuff that I actually love:

PICS!

A FREAKING COMPUTER?!?!?! and HP at that!

ADA MP1 and Peavey Classic 50/50 Power Amp!!!! w00t

Family Pic

there you have it! I also picked up the Laney cab for 260, with Vintage 30s. Pretty excited about that one.

so now I have to post a review I guess.

ok, so, I picked this up kind of knowing what to expect. it surpassed all of those, I understand i'm still in a honeymoon kind of stage, but this thing rips, it does pretty much everything I can think of. it's definitely voiced hot rod marshall kind of sound. I like it a lot, especially with the V30s. i haven't screwed around much with the analog chorus, but from what I have so far, it is in my top 2 favorite choruses ever (the first being the rockman stereo chorus) it is lush and full, I love it. There are 3 voicings, tube clean, tube distortion and solid state. the first two voicings run through 2 12ax7s, so it's full tube, which is nice, I still need to experiment with some different tubes in it, either way it sounds great, very warm, not brittle or anything like that. I have a few complaints though, it gets a little, fizzy/fuzzy and higher gain settings and it tends to be a bit noisy, but thats ok. for anyone expecting just the 80s out of this, you are sadly mistaken, it does the br00tlz just fine, and the cleans are amazing, but man, it cranks out the 80s hair metal like no other. I cant think of anything else to say, so I'll give you a clip.

sorry for the audio skips, my computer hates me, but you get the gist of it.

thats it I think...

That's really sweet man, but consider compressing that 40+ MB .wav file into an MP3.

1. I hate mp3s. 2. I have no way to do so.

also, just to mention, blame any fizzines in that recording on my bad micing technique

1. That's very selfish, most people are fine with a high bitrate MP3.
2. Yes you do, it's called the internet.

Anyway, the clip finally finished downloading. It sounds great, it's not that fizzy. You went a bit too wet on the cleans for my liking, though.

Nice stuff there, mah boi!

Never tried one of these, but it looks good and from your description, it seems like something i'd like, too (though I usually ignore anything that produces a chorus effect). Not downloading a 40mb clip though.

EDIT: It's selfish because some poor souls on the interwub still use dial-up. Not me, luckily.

I meant it's selfish to go "I don't like MP3s so I'm just gonna put up a 47MB file for the people who would love to hear my".

Anyway, if you use MP3 you'd be making it a lot easier for people if you ever had another NAD.

I've always used the LAME encoder in REAPER, it's free and pretty damn good. There are standalone programs too, though.

Yeah, it's big, I used to use the LAME encoder thingmajig, but, I have completley forgotten where to put it so reaper picks it up.

Dan: Thanks man, I'm really enjoying it

Awesome man. Btw, if you wanna go for lossless, there are ways to compress like that too (FLAC and stuff). Maybe you know that already, but do yourself a favor and don't use WAV.

not as bad as the stuff he makes with the iwannasucktomsholzsdick gear.

i really liked the gain tones myself, a lot.

could use a little more bass though.

#39
Yah, upper midrange is a bit too present, no? If there was more bass it'd be more balanced. Like this it can sound somewhat... stiff? More bass wouldn't remove that, but it'd make the tone as a whole more mellow. At least I think it would. It's hard to make sense here for me.
