I don't think I'm singing from my diaphram the right way. I think I'm singing from my throat. My rhoat muscles hurt. When I sing. I gave heartburn. And stressed a lot. I guess what i'm asking is what's a good check list to know ur singing from diaphram and not throat? Really need help with this.

Is your belly expanding when you're breathing in? Are your shoulders raising? If the answers are yes and no, respectively, then you are breathing from your diaphragm. Diaphragmatic breathing is only one aspect of singing. My guess is that it had nothing to do with that. You're probably just singing with too much tension. A lot of beginners do this when they don't like their voice. They figure the more they tighten their belly and face and neck and whatever, the more powerful they will sound. You've gotta be relaxed. Good tone will come with time.

ya i feel if i harden my stomach a stronger sound comes out lol im wrong. My necck is very tight tense. I work a lot and have 2 young kids. Any tenstion release ideas? yoga? I currently take med for heart burn and acid reflux possibly. I wanna take my singing to the next level. Really take it serious. i take lessons also but this tention is slowing me down.

example i take a breath say a line in a song take another breath. I think i just have so much tention.
