Dear Pit,

I'm writing a paper and just typed "I'm placing an emphasis on emphasizing..." then stopped and laughed hard, figuring I must tell the pit about my accomplishment.

But seriously, is that an okay thing to say in a college essay paper?

Lol no. although whenever I write something like that I never feel like deleting it.
What's your paper about?

If it's really formal, no. If it's a kind of laid back paper you could make it work if you use some creativity and keep the right tone throughout the paper.

The paper is a rhetorical analysis on a cover letter/résumé I had written earlier, (i.e. explanations of word choice, tone, and persona we used in the original cover letter.) I don't believe it's very formal.

MakinLattes, I used your "focus on the necessity of emphasizing" phrase, thanks.
