This doesn't really help you make a decision, but I have heard amazing things about the MXR 10-band EQ.

About the pickup, which guitar would it go in?

What amp do you currently have?
Warmoth Strat w/ Lace Holy Grails
'07 Roadhouse Strat
Washburn WD-21 all Koa Acoustic
Marshall JCM-2000 TSL-122
Bugera V-5

Amp will by far have the largest impact on your tone.

The amp is infinitely more important than anything else on the list. You probably won't even want or need to change pickups after you have it. After that you can get the EQ. There's no sense beating around the bush - get what's most important and will help you the most first.

For everything metalcore and heavier, it's pretty much the best amp you can get before you hit the $2000+ amps, imo.

There are alternatives though. I've recently discovered the Ampeg VH140C. If you play death metal, that is your amp. It's amazing. Not as amazing as the fact that it's solid state though. The only problem with them is that they're pretty rare.

so the 6505+112 is'nt any worse off than the 6505 212combo?
and yeah i've of that amp, dont eyehategod use them?

It's not really better or worse, it's just different. The 6505 has more gain and rawness and less cleans. The 6505+ has less gain and is less raw and has more cleans. They are both high modern gain amps though, so get whichever one sounds more appealing to you.

Keep in mind that cleans are neither of their fortes though. Even the +'s cleans leave a lot to be desired if you're used to Fendery cleans, but they are there, and they are usable.

Also, not sure about Eyehategod. I'm not sure, but I think they use the SS150, while Dying Fetus use the VH140C.

I haven't looked into the SS's much, only the VH's. I don't know how they are compared to each other. You may want to look into it more.
